A compact roll-top backpack handcrafted from vegetable-tanned full-grain leather, solid brass and materials chosen to age beautifully over decades.

Hand saddle-stitched. No sewing machines.
Every structural seam is stitched by hand using the traditional two-needle saddle stitch — slower to make, exceptionally strong, and repairable for decades.

The R43 is handcrafted in Latvia from carefully selected full-grain leather, valued for its natural surface, strength and ability to develop character with use.

Its compact roll-top silhouette combines substantial leather, clean proportions and solid brass hardware. Thoughtfully positioned exterior pockets keep everyday essentials close at hand while preserving the backpack’s structured, refined profile.

More compact than the R47, the R43 offers the same approach to materials and construction in a smaller, more versatile format — well suited to everyday use, work and travel without unnecessary bulk.

Each backpack is individually cut, prepared and assembled by hand. Natural grain, subtle tonal variations and markings remain visible, giving every piece its own character.

Made to order and produced in limited quantities, the R43 is created with a focus on craftsmanship, material integrity and long-term use.

Leather & Patina

Full-grain leather retains the natural surface of the hide, including the subtle variations that make every piece unique.

With use and exposure to light, touch and time, the leather gradually develops a deeper tone and individual patina. Rather than remaining visually unchanged, it evolves with its owner and becomes increasingly distinctive over the years.

Leather Care

Clean with a soft dry or slightly damp cloth.

Apply a small amount of neutral leather balm or conditioner every 3–6 months, or whenever the leather begins to feel dry. Always test any care product on an inconspicuous area first, as conditioning may deepen the colour.

Avoid soaking the backpack and never dry it directly on a radiator or other heat source.
